There are lots of places to visit close to the river that are out of the main stream of things.
The river has several 'access points' for your convienience that are close by. Just down the road is the Gilbert access, which is a popular take out spot and a great place to swim with the kids. On Hwy 65 South are the two more popular accesses, Grinders Ferry and Tyler Bend. Tyler Bend offers great picnic spots, pavilions to rent for large gatherings, and also hosts the Buffalo National River visitor center run by the Park Service.
